Feeling better

The Cowboys traded with Seattle (moving from 28 to 25) and used the pick to get Mike Jenkins (CB). That means our secondary just improved greatly.

Even though, I generally don't like the trade, if Pacman is reinstated and can play anywhere near his level from two years ago, the Dallas secondary will be awesome.

James

....Felix Jones....

Hmmm.....

Well, the Cowboys picked at #22 and selected Felix Jones from Arkansas. The Cowboys allowed Rashard Mendenhall to pass (I'm not totally sold on that). When I first heard the pick, I got up went into the kitchen and started dinner...the reason that (to me) is important is that I wasn't totally sold on the pick (nor am I totally against it).

Felix gives up a speedster to share the backfield with Marion Barber. Felix can also split out into the slot and return kicks. He brings pure speed to the game.

The Steelers picked Mendenhall with the next pick. I'm at a loss about what I feel about this pick.

James

4th Trade

The Ravens have traded with the Texans (so they moved from 26 to 18). So they are trying to get a QB now. I'm wondering which QB they have targeted.

The Ravens have selected....

Joe Flacco (QB - Delaware).

He has a "big" arm but he will need some serious work.

James

2nd CB gone

So the Cardinals just choose DRC (CB). That means two of the three best CBs are off the board now. The Cowboys are probably getting a little antsy now.

James

3rd trade...

KC just traded with the Lions. KC has a ton of picks so they can do this easily. With the KC's needs, a o-line pick would be solid...

They picked Brandon Albert (Guard). A good pick. The o-line for KC was scary bad last year.

James

2nd RB gone

The Panthers just took Jonathan Stewart. So

Darren McFadden - Gone
Jonathan Stewart - Gone
Mendenhall
Felix Jones

James

1st CB taken

The Bills chose McKelvin at pick #11, so the top CB is off the board and now it is possible to see a run on the CBs. DRC and Jenkins are still on the board. I'm hoping Jenkins drops to #22.

James

Patriots pick (at 10)...

Jerod Mayo (LB).

This is a good pick for the Pats. The Pats LB are old and needed some youth. This will definitely be a solid move and Mayo will contribute almost immediately.

James

Trade #2

The Ravens just traded with the Jags. Jags jumped up to the 8th pick and Ravens bounced down to 26thish. The Ravens are looking for a QB. I wouldn't have expected the Jags to jump up this high. I will be interested in who the Jags pick.

James

PS. The Patriots moved back to the 10th pick (and gave up a 5th rounder) but they got a 3rd round pick from the Saints. A good move due to the depth of positions in this draft.

PSS. The Jags chose Derrick Harvey (DE). So they are getting a pass rusher in hopes of getting to Peyton Manning (the Colts are the best in their conference).

First trade

The first trade is in.

With the sixth pick, the Jets took Gholston.

The 7th pick (Patriots) traded the pick to the Saints. The Saints took like something like 60 seconds to put their pick in. The Saints choose:

Sedrick Ellis (DT)

This is a good d-lineman and will be a great addition for the Saints.

James

5th pick is...

The Chiefs choose Glenn Dorsey.

Not a bad pick. The Chiefs have 13 picks. They can rebuild nearly their entire team. I don't have much faith in Herm Edwards as a coach, but this pick is a good one. The Chiefs just got better in a single move.

James

Raiders choose....

So here we go. No trades.

The Raiders choose:

Darren McFadden!! Wow, that is the dumbest pick that the Raiders could make just for the shear fact that they have four RB on the roster that they are paying a lot of money for already. Al Davis loves speed, well he got that. A year from now, I could be saying that this was a amazing pick but from a mgmt aspect...I don't get it.

This is good for the Cowboys, it puts the DMAC rumors to rest (barring something weird happening). The Cowboys really should get a CD and a RB (if good ones are available) with their two first round picks.

James

Forth Pick magic?

So Glenn Dorsey is still available, as it Darren McFadden. Things could get interesting here depending on if the Raiders want DMAC or if a trade is tossed in front of them.

James

3rd Pick - Falcons

The Falcons are picking Matt Ryan (QB) - from Boston College.

Not a bad pick. Begin to rebuild the franchise. The problem for the Falcons is that there is really no offensive lines to protect him, a new RB and not much for receivers. Good luck Ryan.

James

2nd Pick is....

The Rams choose with the 2nd pick in the 2008 NFL draft:

Chris Long (DE) from Virginia

A solid defensive pick for the Rams. As it turns out, the rumors about teams trading up was just that...rumors.

James

Here we go!!

HERE WE GO....

With the first pick in the draft the Miami Dolphins pick Jake Long (OT) from Michigan.

This is a great pick to start rebuilding the franchise with. If you can keep your QB upright, you will do so much better on offense. Just look at the Browns last year. They drafted Thomas (OT) and picked up a couple other lineman and look how well they did once they QB wasn't getting bum rushed.

James

Rumors

It was just reported that the Ravens are trying to trade up from #10 to #2 to get Matt Ryan (QB). The Ravens are worried. Currently, Miami (pick #1) has signed Jake Long (OT - good move) and the Rams want Chris Long (DE). Which means the Falcons are thought to be looking to take Matt Ryan for their QB. The Ravens are going to have to package together a lot to bounce up from 10 to 2 to get Ryan. Well, we will see if they make it happens. The rumors are flying.

James

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are in a great position this year. They have two 1st round picks (#22 and #28) and the positions that they need player for are fairly deep. Whether they get a running back, wide receiver or corner back, the Cowboys should have some good players to choose from.

I like the trade that the Cowboys made with the Dolphins last night. Fasano needs reps to develop, but he is not going to get them with Jason Whitten in front of him. Akin was going to get lost in the mix with the linebackers that Dallas has. So to trade them for a 4th round pick, (which is the first pick in the 4th round), that was a good move.

GO COWBOYS!!!

NFL Draft

It's two hours before the 2008 NFL draft. I'm totally pumped up for this. I will try to update this blog with my thoughts on this draft as the day goes along.

GO COWBOYS!!!

Just when you think you have seen it all....

So last week, I was swinging into the drive way and as I got out of my car, I heard a rustling noise by the garbage cans. We have recently had a skunk making dinner stops at our garbage cans. I couldn't see anything some I figure wind or something made the noise. A few minutes later I came back outside and was caught off guard as the bag of trash in the trash can began crawling out of the can (by itself). Well upon a closer look, it turns out the skunk was back and having a meal, and was IN the bag itself. I decided not to disturb it at the time (I hate when a telemarketing company calls me when I'm eating). Sure enough, a while later the skunk had left. Needless to say, that was definitely an interesting moment in time.

Still Trying

Good morning.

Well I'm going to try again to start blogging. Life has been getting even more busy. The days and weeks are just flying by. Isaiah is quickly approaching three. The fall colors are in full effect here now and it is quite a view. As I get some time today, I will add to this post.

Getting back to normal

Well, it has been a few days since we got back from our trip. It was great to see so many of my relatives that I don't get to see often. It had been 6 or 7 years since I had seen many of my relatives and it was great to catch up with all of them. I am committed to creating a email list again so we can all stay in touch a little more. Also, I have had discussion forums added to Miraclesinc.com so we can have some interactive discussions on whatever.

Traveling was....ok. For an 18 month old, Isaiah traveled very well (13 hours both ways that included 2 planes, a bus and a car ride). I have been working to get myself caught up to speed again at work. I arrived home and after no quite a week and a half, I had about 100 email messages waiting for me...yeah, that was fun to sort through.

The trip reminded me of a lot of good memories from my youth. Out in the midwest (where we were, fireworks are legal). After three nights of lighting off our own fireworks, I think I got it all out of my system for a year or so. Anyway, back to the grind with me. C-ya

Happy Easter

Happy Easter, from my family to yours. It is a busy weekend for us. We spent most of today trying to find a cheap (and I do mean cheap) car for a 2nd vehicle. We had Isaiah in the car for a good part of the day and he did a great job just tolerating all the traveling around. The day included lunch at Mom and Dad Churchills and a birthday party later in the afternoon. It was nearly 7 pm once we got home. Though the car hunt didn't net us a vehicle today but we have a lead or two. Hopefully your Easter weekend is enjoyable if not more relaxing, so once again have a great Easter.

Just bloggin away

As a geek, I figured that it is time for me to join the blogging world. So with this blog, I will try and keep everyone up to date on the happenings within our family. With any luck, this site will grow and serve as central place for our family to catch up with one another.
